If you’re shopping for standard size buckle carriers, and you’re wondering if they’ll be truly adjustable for newborns, you should look for perfect fit adjusters.

Perfect fit adjusters (or PFAs) are additions to the body panel that allow you to cinch down the height of the panel to create a customized fit that grows as baby does.

Newborn safe buckle carriers should cinch down small enough to have the panel sit no higher than the bottom of baby’s ears. Higher than that is a risk for positional asphyxiation.

Have questions about newborn safety and buckle carriers? Leave them in the comments! 💛

👶🏽 Did you know babies breathe much faster than adults? They take approximately 60 breaths a minute while adults only take 20. This can be concerning when you’re first getting to know your newborn but you can rest assured that they are just fine!

💛 Newborns make lots of noises including grunts, gurgles, and snorts. As you bring them home, it’s nice to feel prepared for what to expect. This is where Homegrown comes in. Drop in to an upcoming Newborn Care With Courage class! There is still time to register for our Wednesday, December 4th session from 5-8pm. Hope to see you there!!

@ncbfc_safeteam Skin to skin with insulating layers wrapped around baby and caregiver is the best way to keep babies warm.

As winter weather sweeps across WNC, many families are still without electricity and heat, and they will need our support to keep their babies safe.

If you are a care provider or volunteer and you encounter families that do not have access to heat sources, please share this vital info with them.
